An unusually strong, cold storm front from the Gulf of Alaska brought 0.90 inches of rain to Oakland, and occasional snow flurries below 1,000 ft. to other parts of the Bay Area, beginning Friday, March 10, through Monday, March 13. Storm-related activity was very light all weekend.

With the forecasters predicting snow as low at 500 ft. above sea level, PWA assigned 2-person overtime crews around the clock, prepared to handle snow and ice on the roadways. Crews patrolled the hill areas to ensure that the roads were safe and passable, and had sandbags and loose sand available to mitigate any snow or ice on roadways. Two crews were assigned to make sandbags throughout the weekend, making a total of 1,200 sandbags.

The Call Center remained closed throughout the weekend.
